PARTYTURNS HOSTING GUIDE

How to plan an online date night that does not feel forced

A good game night needs less structure than a meeting and more direction than “what do you want to do?” This three-part plan gives two people something to play, something to laugh about, and enough space to talk naturally.

The three-round date night

01 · WARM UP

Start with easy choices

Play ten rounds of Would You Rather using the Couples or Funny category. Answer at the same time when possible, then discuss only the choices that genuinely surprise you.

Suggested time: 10–15 minutes
02 · PLAY

Add a shared challenge

Open a private Gomoku match on separate devices. Keep the game casual, allow one rematch, and use the pauses between moves to keep the conversation going.

Suggested time: 15–25 minutes
03 · WIND DOWN

Finish with stories

Switch to the Couples deck in Never Have I Ever. Nobody has to explain an answer, but either person can tell the story when a prompt brings back a good memory.

Suggested time: 15 minutes

For long-distance couples

Keep a voice or video call open while the game runs in another tab. Send the complete room link before the date starts, test the microphone once, and choose games with natural pauses. Turn-based games work well because neither person has to manage a fast connection or complicated controls.

Use a backup

If one connection drops, continue with a one-screen question game while the private room reconnects.

Avoid overplanning

Choose two or three games, not an hour-by-hour itinerary. Stop while the night still feels fun.

Share control

Alternate who chooses the category, starts the next game, or decides whether to play a rematch.

Respect the skip

Questions should invite conversation, not demand vulnerability. Either person can skip without giving a reason.

Choose the right level of conversation

Not every date night needs deep relationship questions. Start light and move only when both people are comfortable.

  1. Light: funny preferences, travel choices, food, music, and imaginary situations.
  2. Personal: shared memories, daily habits, future plans, and things you appreciate.
  3. Deeper: values, worries, and relationship expectations. Save these for a moment when both people want that conversation.
